Tsi-La Perfumery

The fragrance-free movement got you down? Ditching synthetic fragrance doesn't have to mean forgoing your favorite perfume.

Especially if Tsi-La has a say about it. A small perfumery based in Bucks county Pennsylvania, Tsi-La specializes in crafting beautiful scents from essential oils and flower extracts.

Tsi-La (pronounced chee-la), is the abridged version of the word "atsilvsgi", meaning "flower" in Cherokee. Tsi-La's artisanal perfumes are made in small batches and bottled by hand. They use the highest quality therapeutic grade essential oils and flower essences. No synthetic chemicals, preservatives and colors are ever included.

Wearing their perfumes is a unique experience. The aromas melt into your skin and transform over the day into your own individual scent. They become deeper and more nuanced. This is what I love about natural fragrance. It becomes a scent personalized to you, with more complexity than synthetics.

I was lucky enough to try a few of their fragrances. The first was Fleur Sauvage, which is "infused with fresh Tunisian neroli, Italian bergamot, Egyptian jasmine petals and rich blonde woods."  On my neck, Fleur Sauvage reminded me of vanilla bean. But as the day wore on, florals like jasmine shone through.

The second fragrance I wore was Kesu. It is a unisex perfume with "Elegant notes of warm amber and precious rare woods combined with seductive, smoky incense, a hint of Egyptian jasmine, davana, exotic spices, and fresh lime." On me, Kesu is definitively spicier than Fleur Sauvage. I could detect some sandalwood, cedar and hints of clove initially. However, the scent became softer and more mellow the longer I wore it. Tsi-La perfumes simply add luxury to your routine.

Tsi-La sells sample packs with a small vial of various fragrances. It's a perfect way for you to see how each perfume adapts to your body chemistry.

Do you have a favorite fall scent?

  1. Yes, I have a favorite fall scent. In fact, I like it so much, I use it all year around. It is called "human." I just smell like myself. Wash with soap and water, and that is it. And everyone tells me I smell great! Really! And I smell just like me. Everyone has their own special scent, different from every other. Let it shine through! It is truly unique and special. Cheap, easy, and healthy. Highly recommended! Try it!

    1. It's true that perfume has a time and a place. Don't spritz at work or on the plane. They use recirculated air on planes and anyone aboard with allergies, sensitivities or a simple dislike of your scent will be subjected to your perfume.
