One of My Favorite Foundations: RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up

Foundation can be one of those dangerous downward-spiral-products. It can be used to hide a little blemish, but then you suffocate your skin and one imperfection leads to a full-blown break out. I was just chatting with a friend over sushi the other night who bemoaned a rather familiar tale: "I always break out after wearing makeup!"  Guess what? That doesn't have to be the case.

Remember my post about ingredients that could be causing acne? Well, keep those ingredients out of your foundation, and you'll be on the right track towards backlash-free makeup. This, in fact, is exactly what RMS Beauty did. RMS Beauty created a foundation out of food grade ingredients (that's right, food grade) that nurture your skin while veiling imperfections. Exactly what makeup should do, at least in my book.

"Un" Cover-Up is weightless. Be prepared to apply it and, once you put down the mirror, utterly forget it's there. This is what happens when you eliminate silicones that clog pores and prevent your skin from breathing. Historically, this has been one of my pet peeves about makeup. I don't want to be able to feel it there all day long. I've never worn anything lighter than RMS "Un" Cover-up. Even the mineral powder I have feels heavier on my skin. I'm never going back.

RMS Beauty is a favorite of Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr and Karolina Kurkova. Not surprisingly, because the entire RMS Beauty line is made of pure ingredients that are designed to synergistically nourish your skin.

One of the best parts of this foundation is its blendability. I tried on a shade, oh, maybe 3 shades too dark? (I guess I'm paler than I think.) But I was able to work it in so that you barely noticed that my face was too tan. So feel free to apply with a heavy hand or a lighter hand, and vary your coverage that easily. In fact, going even a little easy on the blending will allow this product to also take on the role of concealer. Either way, it absolutely melts into your skin.

The finish of "Un" Cover-Up is beautiful. It's satiny smooth and looks just like your own glowing skin, but better. It never takes on that makeup-surface-treatment-effect I see on women so often. And the cherry on top: no primer or moisturizer is required before application, "Un" Cover-Up works its magic alone.

  1. i think primers are just a money making scheme in the cosmetic industry! full of gross silicones and i wonder why smashbox is so popular, it feels awful! i also love this rms beauty product, but i heard from sarah brown, creator of pai skincare that beeswax can clog pores. any thoughts on that? xx

    1. You're right, primers are just a money making scheme. You can design a make-up that goes on perfectly without an additional layer! RMS is proof of that.

It's true, any kind of wax can clog pores. Wax is actually more comedogenic than oils (surprising to some people). But everyone's skin is different. I have no problem with RMS "un" cover-up (even when I fall asleep with it on). If you can find a store near you that carries RMS, you can try a sample and see how your skin reacts. Nobody I have talked to has had a problem yet!

    2. I own this lovely in 11 and the Living Luminizer and samples of the lip2cheek colours. I love 'em all :) I don't think I've had any problems, but my skin has always been acne-prone... I think I need a good facial and stop experimenting around with skincare! I love Dr. Alkaitis, but alas it too expensive to keep purchasing. I think I'll try the Bubble and Bee cleansers, I love simple ingredients!

    3. What lip2cheek colors do you have? I've only tried modest.

    4. Sorry about the delay! I've tried Smile (love it) & Promise. I thought I had another one, but I can't remember... and I can't find the sample, so it makes me think I only have those two. I really want Muse & Rapture... oh, I want Smile in full size too. So stoked for her RMS Beauty powder & oil that are coming out!

  2. @figwittage I also have acne prone skin (hormones are so unfair) but I've recently been using crude oil cleansing. Livecrude.com My cheeks are completely clear now & my tone has never been better! I must say my neck is an awful mess :( but I'm hoping & praying it clears as well. Crude oil is all natural. Definitely check it out!
